Privacy Policy
Last updated: 21 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Haraan collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Haraan app and haraan.app. We follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable law.
1. Who we are:
Haraan is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS], India ("we", "us"). For any privacy question you can reach our Grievance Officer at [GRIEVANCE EMAIL].
2. Data we collect:
Account details: your name, age, email address and password (stored only in hashed form). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email and profile picture from Google.
Profile and activity: your player profile, sport preferences, teams, matches you create or play, scores, statistics, XP, achievements, venue bookings, tickets and support messages.
Location: when you create a public match we collect your device's GPS location (latitude and longitude) so the match can be found by players nearby, and we use your approximate location to sort "near me" results. We collect location only when you allow it on your device.
Payments: when you buy a ticket, our payment partner (Razorpay) processes the payment. We receive confirmation and limited transaction details; we do not store your full card, UPI or bank details.
Technical data: device and app information, log data, and, on the website, cookies that are needed for the site to work.
3. How we use your data:
To create and run your account; to show events, matches, live scores, leaderboards and venues; to process ticket purchases and venue bookings; to place matches and results on the correct local feeds; to keep competition fair and prevent cheating and fraud; to provide support; to send you service messages and, where you allow it, notifications; and to comply with the law.
4. Consent and legal basis:
We rely on your consent (for example, for location and notifications), on the need to provide the service you asked for (such as buying a ticket), and on our legitimate interests and legal obligations. You can withdraw consent, for example by turning off location permission, though some features may then not work.
5. When we share data:
With event organisers, when you buy their ticket, so they can admit you and run the event. With venue owners, when you book their venue. With Razorpay, to process payments. With Google, when you choose Google sign-in. With service providers who host and support Haraan, under confidentiality. And with authorities where the law requires. We do not sell your personal data.
6. Public information:
Haraan is a local-first sports community. By default your player profile, match activity, district and standings may be visible to other users and on public leaderboards and feeds. You can control much of this in your privacy settings (public profile, show statistics, show district, discoverable). Private matches are not shown in public feeds.
7. Data retention:
We keep your data for as long as your account is active and for as long as we need it for the purposes above, and after that only as the law requires (for example, transaction and tax records). You can ask us to delete your account.
8. Security:
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and hashing of passwords. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to act promptly if something goes wrong.
9. Your rights:
Subject to law, you can ask to access the data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it, and you can withdraw consent. You can also nominate someone to exercise your rights if you are unable to. To make a request or to complain, contact our Grievance Officer at [GRIEVANCE EMAIL].
10. Children:
Haraan is not intended for children under 13, and payments require you to be 18 or to have your guardian's consent. Where the law requires, we process a child's data only with verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child has given us data without consent, contact us and we will remove it.
11. Third-party links and services:
Haraan links to and relies on third parties such as Google, Razorpay and map providers. Their handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to read.
12. Cookies (website):
The website uses cookies that are necessary for it to work, such as keeping you signed in. You can control cookies through your browser, though the site may not work fully without them.
13. Changes to this policy:
We may update this policy. We will change the "Last updated" date and, for significant changes, bring them to your attention.
14. Grievance Officer and contact:
In line with Indian law, our Grievance Officer is [GRIEVANCE OFFICER NAME], reachable at [GRIEVANCE EMAIL], [REGISTERED ADDRESS]. We aim to acknowledge and resolve complaints within the timeframes the law requires.
